Does God still speak?
But you gotta get quiet and in His presence, because His voice is never loud and booming.
That does not mean He will only talk to you while you are praying; no, you have to get into His presence a lot to start hearing Him daily and not only in “holy” moments…
It could be while you brush your teeth, or are cutting the lawn. It could be while you talk to someone, or wash the dishes.
How God speaks
OK, so how does He speak?
Well, there are a few ways:
>> He tells you something directly.
>> Something in the Bible stands out for you.
>> He drops a “knowing” into your spirit.
>> When it feels like you must do something, that is Him leading you.
>> When you feel kind of like a “check” in your spirit, like something is wrong or you must not do something or believe something, that is the Holy Spirit saying, “be careful, this is not of God”.
>> Something “jumps” out at you; that is a message from God.
>> Visions – you see something in the spirit.
>> Dreams – He gives you a dream. Usually, this dream is symbolic and you remember it after a few hours instead of forgetting it like you would a dream that is of no importance.
It’s important to know that He comes to YOU in a way YOU will understand.
It is not the same for everyone. He could talk to you through music, TV, art, nature and so on. Anything that stands out to you is usually the Holy Spirit giving you a message.
God sends us messages all the time, but we often do not get them because we don’t recognise them.
The more time you spend with Him, the more you get to know His character. Reading the Bible is especially useful, as He often uses scripture to speak to us.
