When we think of the horrifying ways some of the apostles of Jesus Christ died, never mind the death of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and the persecution the early church went through, we can ask ourselves why us Christians today seem to be so “wishy washy”, living our lives in comfort, but not seeing miracles and supernatural wonders on a daily basis.
Why do so many people give their hearts to Jesus and then live their lives just exactly as they used to?
They still sleep with their girlfriends or boyfriends without being married, they keep swearing, they think nothing of clubbing, they gossip, they do things that everybody who is not saved does. Oh, except go to church. Every Sunday, they go to church.
Perhaps I haven’t been able to understand it because before I gave my heart to Jesus, I had a real clear-out. I had read a book called, “Prepare for War” by Rebecca Brown, so I knew what caused open doors, and I knew what I needed to confess.
It was a whole Thing. 8 hours of deliverance. Burning stuff. The whole toot.
But today, when I look back, I see it was what made the difference in my life. Although I was afraid at the time, I committed myself to doing what needed to be done to go forwards as a new child of a holy God.
So for a while recently, I kept wondering why Christians lacked spiritual power. Why nothing seemed to change in their lives. Why was it so?
The answer is this: Because people don’t know the power of God.
They don’t understand the reality of committing your heart to His ways.
If they did, their lives would utterly change. Because they would pursue holiness with passion.
The problem is that many churches, too afraid to offend, are presenting a watered-down truth. I don’t think they realise that they’re actually depriving their congregations of God’s power!
But only the TRUTH sets people free.
Once people understand what it actually means to choose Jesus Christ as their Saviour, not as many will put their hands up at the altar call, but those who do, will do it with true understanding of what it means to be a child of the Most High.
Solid truth leads to revelation, and the revelation of the holiness of God (because it changes the way we do life), leads to spiritual power.
We’ve got to give God our whole hearts, because He is too much of a gentleman to take what has not been given to Him.
When we give ourselves completely to Him, He will change us top to bottom.
Going to church once a week and calling yourself a Christian will not see the glorious power of God in our lives. Allow God’s magic in your life; I promise it is the most exciting ride of your life!
